2019 Africa Cup of Nations Draw Ceremony

2019 Africa Cup of Nations is behind the corner. The tournament will be played in Egypt from 21st June 2019 and all 24 qualified teams are already known. But for first the teams must be divided into groups. This will happen in the Draw ceremony which takes place near Cairo on Friday 12th April.

2019 Africa Cup of Nations Seeding Pots

All qualified teams have been separated into four different seeding pots based on national team rankings issued by Confederation of African Football (CAF). Within the draw ceremony the teams will be drawn into six groups of 4 teams each.

You can see the qualified teams and seeding pots in the following table:

Pot 1 Pot 2 Pot 3 Pot 4
Egypt Morocco Uganda Mauritania
Cameroon Nigeria South Africa Namibia
Ghana Algeria Guinea-Bissau Benin
Ivory Coast Guinea Zimbabwe Kenya
Tunisia Mali Angola Madagascar
Senegal DR Congo Burundi Tanzania

As you can see The Cranes ended in Pot 3 so we can expect quite heavy opponents especially from Pot 1 which includes Egypt, Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Tunisia and Senegal.

The teams in each group will play against each other which means 3 matches for every national team. After the group stage is finished, the top two teams from each group and the four best third teams will advance to the round of 16.
